Petunias are not difficult or demanding to grow. Unfortunately, their susceptibility to various pests and diseases is a problem. If the soil in which a petunia grows is of poor quality and is overwatered, the plant usually develops fungal diseases. Downy mildew is one of them. It appears as a white residue on the soil, which then spreads onto the plant. If you don’t react quickly – by using chemicals or removing infected plant parts – the disease may spread to other plants growing in the same bed.

Other petunia diseases include:

  • dry rot,
  • botrytis,
  • chlorosis,
  • Brown stains,
  • brown rot.

Additionally, petunias can be prone to pests that tend to appear on the leaves. Aphids are the most dangerous. Various mites and whiteflies may also appear.
