10. Flax seeds

Flaxseeds can be rich in fiber and heart-healthy fats as a healthy addition to your diet.

Some research has shown that it may help reduce cancer growth and help eliminate cancer cells.

In one study, 32 women with breast cancer received either flaxseed pie per day or a placebo for more than a month.

At the end of the study, the flaxseed group reduced specific marker levels that measured tumor growth, as well as an increase in cancer cell death (36).

To help increase your intake, include a serving or two of tomatoes in your diet every day by adding them to sandwiches, salads, sauces, or pasta dishes.

However, remember that these studies show that there may be an association between eating tomatoes and a lower risk of prostate cancer, but they do not take into account other factors that may be involved.

12.Garlic

The active ingredient in garlic is allicin, a compound that has been shown to kill cancer cells in multiple test-tube studies (40 reliable sources, 41 reliable sources, 42 reliable sources).

Several studies have found an association between eating garlic and a lower risk of certain types of cancer.

One large study showed that eating more fish was linked to a lower risk of gastrointestinal cancer (46 reliable sources).

Another study that followed 478,040 adults found that eating more fish reduces the risk of colorectal cancer, while red and processed meat actually increased the risk (47 reliable sources).

In particular, fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and anchovy contain important nutrients such as vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids that have been linked to a lower risk of cancer.

For example, it is believed that having adequate levels of vitamin D protects and reduces the risk of cancer (a reliable source).
