8. Watering And Fertilizing

Regular but moderate watering is required. African violet requires little water.

In spring and summer:

Keep the soil for planting slightly moist and make sure the water drains properly.

Add liquid fertilizer for flowering plants about once a month to prolong flowering to the fullest.

  • Water on top and ideally with water at room temperature
  • Never wet the leaves and flowers of your African violet.

To maintain a certain humidity, it is advisable to place the pot on a cushion of clay balls with water at the bottom.

Autumn and Winter:

Reduce watering to allow the soil to dry on the surface between 2 waterings.
Stop adding fertilizer.

10. African Violet Disease

We mainly find common houseplant diseases, red spiders, cochineal, and aphids, as well as powdery mildew.

  • If the leaves wilt, it’s probably a lack of fertilizer.
  • Smaller and smaller leaves indicate the need to report the African violet.

11. To Know About The African Violet

African violet or Cape violet was discovered in 1892 by Baron Walter von Saint-Paul in the mountains of Tanzania.

This name was given to him because of his resemblance to the violet, but this is the only thing he has in common with this flower.
