Cucumber Milking

An unusual cucumber trick surfaced on the internet lately. While opinions on its effectiveness vary, it’s certainly worth giving it a shot. Personally, I’ve experienced relatively positive results using this method.

Begin by removing the upper part of the cucumber’s stem end. Next, delicately rub the two cut sections together for about 10 to 20 seconds. As you do this, you’ll observe the formation of a sticky froth. Wipe this froth away and dispose of the stem end. Evidently, the rubbing action generates enough friction to create a mild suction, supposedly aiding in the extraction of cucurbitacin. At least, that’s the theory behind it.

With these insights in mind, hopefully, you’ll have an abundance of delectable cucumbers at your disposal to craft pickles and an array of other delightful treats.
